Do you wait for things to happen or do you make things happen?
My grandpa used to tell me that God helps those who help themselves.
When the Japanese invaded Singapore, they herded our strong men, made them dig trenches, lined them in front of these trenches and shot them dead.
My grandpa was one of those herded for slaughter.
All our people were made to report in centers and walk past the Japs. The women, children and some of the men were released while the rest were put on trucks and sent to Changi (if I recall correctly)
It was dark. There was confusion, uncertainty among the men. No one knew what awaited them. Most waited for what might come next. Who could fight the armed soldiers?
Fists against guns?
Grandpa knew something was terribly wrong. He prayed. Then he took a leap of faith and ran. There was a sentry with armed soldiers every mile or so by his estimates.
Amazingly, no one saw him run past them. He reached his home in Katong.
Grandma was distraught. No one could have guessed he'd escape. Relieved , grandpa, grandma, their 7 sons and 1 daughter grabbed their essentials and fled for their lives.
God helps those who help themselves.
If grandpa did not take that leap of faith, he would have died together with the rest.
Help me Jesus

It's easy to be an aethist when everything is fine, but on your death bed, as you move past this life, it can get rather scary.
When we die, do we disappear into nothingness?
Or do we go to heaven? Or to hell?
Is there a heaven and a hell in the first place?
In the bible, Luke chapter 16 depicts the story of a rich man who died and went to hell.
19 “There was a rich man who was dressed in purple and fine linen and lived in luxury every day. 20 At his gate was laid a beggar named Lazarus, covered with sores 21 and longing to eat what fell from the rich man’s table. Even the dogs came and licked his sores.
22 “The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham’s side. The rich man also died and was buried. 23 In Hades, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side. 24 So he called to him, ‘Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.’
25 “But Abraham replied, ‘Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, while Lazarus received bad things, but now he is comforted here and you are in agony. 26 And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been set in place, so that those who want to go from here to you cannot, nor can anyone cross over from there to us.’
27 “He answered, ‘Then I beg you, father, send Lazarus to my family, 28 for I have five brothers. Let him warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.’
29 “Abraham replied, ‘They have Moses and the Prophets; let them listen to them.’
30 “‘No, father Abraham,’ he said, ‘but if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.’
31 “He said to him, ‘If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.’”
We all die one day. At least, we know the physical body dies.
What about the soul, as in the mind and emotions?
The spirit that is the essence of the person.
Christians believe that upon death, the soul and spirit leave their house the physical body and go to the next place.
Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in[a] Christ Jesus our Lord."
Eternal life refers to heaven while death, after the physical death refers to hell.
Life is uncertain. One never knows when it may be too late.
What have you got to lose?
If you accept Jesus and Christianity speaks the truth, you escape hell and get to be in a place of eternal bliss.
If this is wrong and there's nothing after this life, you still don't lose anything.
However if the bible is true and you choose to ignore it, one day, it may be too late.
You decide.

When you are feeling lonely, cry in your heart to God.
He loves you.
Josh Groban sings it so beautifully. Listen to the words.
When I feel down, this song's a reminder. I'm not going by my strength.
My God who loves me will carry me through.
When you are feeling down, listen to this song.
Remember.
He cherishes you. Treasures you in His sight.
You are close to His heart and He will carry you through.
